The new twin-aisle jet touched down at New Delhi‘s Indira Gandhi International Airport on 28 June 2015, following a direct delivery flight from the Boeing factory in Seattle.

Air India has placed orders for a total of 27 B787-8 Dreamliners, all of which will be configured in a two-class layout with 256 seats – 18 in business class and 238 in economy.

Following the new arrival, Air India’s fleet now stands at 103 aircraft, comprising 62 single-aisle Airbus jets and 41 twin-aisle Boeing aircraft.

As well as the six remaining B787s, the Indian national carrier has outstanding orders for three more B777-300ERs and 30 Airbus A320s, including 14 fuel-efficient A320neos.
