Tiger Woods to play cheerleading role for girlfriend Vonn in skiing championship
Washington – American skiing champion Lindsey Vonn will reportedly have the support of her boyfriend and golf’s world number one Tiger Woods as she competes in the downhill World Cup race at the French ski resort of Val d’Isere.
Vonn, who made a successful return to racing earlier this month after undergoing reconstructive surgery on her injured right knee, had a best finish of fifth at Canada’s Lake Louise course but hopes to make further progress on the French snow.
According to CNN, 14-time Major winner Woods explained on his official website that he had decided to pack up his golf clubs for now and play a cheerleading role for Vonn as she tries to prepare for the Sochi Olympics, adding that having also had the same surgery, he can understand what Vonn is going through.
Vonn is the Olympic downhill champion and wants to be fit enough to defend her title at the Winter Olympics which take place in the Russian resort of Sochi in February, the report added.
Stating that Vonn can bounce ideas off him as to what to expect, Woods also said that both of them see their respective sports through the same looking glass in how they approach them, adding that they both work very hard and are prepared for their seasons.
However, Woods further said that Vonn has to be much more aggressive and needs more adrenaline in her sport than him, adding that unlike her, he tries to tone everything down mentally.
