Mohammad Hafeez ruled out of Pakistan’s ODI, T20 squad for Australia series
Mohammad Hafeez, the Pakistan all-rounder is all set to miss the upcoming ODI and T20 series against Australia in UAE after suffering a hand injury during a practice session at Sharjah on Thursday.
Hafeez, an opening batsman and an off-spinner injured himself while practicing when the webbing between his thumb and the index finger gashed. He had to undergo five stitches and the team physiotherapist has advised him for a two-week rest, which eventually rules him out of the ODI series against the Aussies, reports gulfnews.com.
With Hafeez being injured, Shaharyar M. Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has legitimated to replace him with opening batsman Sami Aslam and left-arm slow bowler Zulfiqar Babar. Chief selector and manager, Moin Khan led by head coach Waqar Younis and skipper Misbah-ul-Haq unanimously suggested the replacement. Aslam is already in the UAE and would at once join the squad.
Pakistan begin their campaign against Australia with a T20 match on Sunday in Dubai, followed by three ODI’s on October 7 (Sharjah), October 10 (Dubai) and October 12 (Abu Dhabi) following which they play two Tests on October 22 (Dubai) and October 30 (Abu Dhabi).
