Schmeichel says Man U should `axe` six players who `don’t care about club`
London – Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has slammed the club’s current crop of underperforming players, insisting they don’t care enough about United’s fate, according to reports.
According to Metro.co.uk, David Moyes’ tenure at Old Trafford has got off to a rocky start since his succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer, with the reigning Premier League champions currently languishing down in ninth place.
Schmeichel believes Moyes needs to have a mass clear out of players who aren’t pulling their weight, the report said.
He said that more than anything, Moyes should let players go as there are some players who are not doing the job and have not been doing it for some time now.
He added that to be a Manchester United player, it requires a certain level of performance and mentality but five or six players do not care any more, which was not good.
