Hockey India on Monday congratulated Poonam Rani and Chanchan Devi (right) for earning 100 international caps for India. While Poonam Rani completed her 100th international match during the European Tour against Ireland last week, Chanchan Devi scored her ‘century’ during India’s opening match of the Champions Challenge 1 in Scotland against Korea on Sunday.Hisar (Haryana)-born Poonam, who played her first international in 2009, has not looked back since her debut helped her to seal a berth to the FIH Junior World Cup in USA in the same year. In 2010, she was part of the team playing Test matches against Japan, China and New Zealand and her performance helped her to represent India in the Asian Champions Trophy in Korea, the FIH Women’s World Cup in Argentina, Commonwealth Games in Delhi and the Asian Games in China. Since then, Poonam has represented India in almost every tournament. She was also part of the team that won historic bronze medal in the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup 2013 in Germany and the 3rd Asian Champions Trophy in Japan, where India won silver.

Chanchan Devi, who comes from Manipur, debuted in 2009 with the 7th Asia Cup in Thailand followed by FIH Champions Challenge in Russia later that year. In 2010, she represented India in the Champions Trophy in Korea, FIH World Cup in Argentina, Commonwealth Games in India and Asian Games in China. In 2013, she was part of World League Round 2 in Delhi, World League Round 3 in Rotterdam, Asia Cup in Malaysia where the team bagged the bronze and the Asian Champions Trophy in Japan.
