Ajmal retains top ODI ranking
Ajmal’s fine form though is not a reflection of Pakistan’s standing; the former world champions are languishing at the sixth spot with a mere 100 points after the rankings were updated following the South Africa-Sri Lanka series that ended on Saturday.
South Africa’s maiden ODI series win in Sri Lanka has taken them to the fourth spot; they are a decimal point behind their hosts. Australia is on the top with 115 points followed by India in second place.
The Proteas duo of captain AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla occupy the top two spots in the batting rankings. Amla scored two centuries against the Lankans, while De Villiers struck a match winning hundred in the final game of the series in Hambantota.
Pakistan captain Misbahul Haq is placed at the number eight spot in the rankings, while former T20 captain Mohammad Hafeez is at the top of the all-rounders’ rankings with a tally of 417 points.
