Afridi gets injury scare ahead of Asia Cup
KARACHI -Shahid Afridi on Thursday suffered a minor injury scare ahead of the Asia Cup when he received a cut on his cheek while facing a Junaid Khan delivery during a training session in Lahore.
The experienced all-rounder was unable to put bat on a rising delivery from the young fast bowler and was left with a facial injury at the Gaddafi Stadium. He left the training session after the incident but a senior team official stressed that Afridi’s injury was of a minor nature.
Pakistan’s head coach Moin Khan said that Afridi was okay, adding that the former Pakistan captain has quickly shrugged off the injury.
“He (Afridi) is a tough and brave cricketer and doesn’t take such minor injuries seriously,” he added.
Pakistan will wrap up the Asia Cup training camp on Friday (today) before leaving for Bangladesh on Saturday morning. Bangladesh will host the Asia Cup which gets underway in Dhaka from February 25.
