The organizers of cash-rich cricket tournament Indian Premier League on Saturday announced that around 40,000 tickets for the T20 tournament have been sold online in three days for the first leg of the T20 league, scheduled to begin in UAE.

“This is a remarkable start. The sale of tickets off the field will be complemented by some exhilarating cricket on the field, in the fifteen days from 16 April 2014 to 30 April 2014,” said Ranjib Biswal, Chairman of the IPL Governing Council.

The first half of the IPL from May 2 to June 1 will be held in UAE. Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings will face each other in the opening game.

This year, some matches have been shifted to UAE due to Lok Sabha polls in India.

The IPL organizers were told by the government that they cannot ensure foolproof security to hold the matches during election time, forcing them to shift the tournament’s first leg to the Arab nation. – See more at: http://www.delhidailynews.com/news/40-000-IPL-tickets-sold-online-for-UAE-matches-1396862716/#sthash.d0p09Fh1.dpuf
