Safari India: Mangroves of Bhitarkanika that saved many during the 1999 cyclone (Aired: March 2006)
On Safari India, we visit Bhitarkanika which has most of the mangrove species known in India and these dense forests are said to have protected the residents of the region from the great cyclone that hit the state in 1999. The region that is pretty much protected from urban interference has a highly complex ecosystem with several exotic species of birds and reptiles. (Audio in Hindi)
