Soni Sori gets notice from EC for wearing cap inside polling booth
Raipur, April 11: AAP candidate from Bastar, Soni Sori has sparked a controversy after she was photographed wearing her party’s cap on Thursday while casting her vote in Chhattishgarh. Sori entered the polling booth wearing her party cap, which is a violation of model code of conduct. Sori was photographed as she cast her vote. Dantewada sub-divisional magistrate and election officer said that they had received complaints from people following which the election commission issued a show cause notice to her seeking an explanation. A formal reports would be prepared and necessary action will be taken against Sori, officials said. Sori however said that she didn’t intend to break any rules and also clarified that she had indeed taken off her cap before voting. Maoists had opened fire in Bastar on Thursday to disrupt the voting process. Security was stepped up to avoid any untoward incident during voting.
