Kejriwal to step down as AAP convenor?
Amid the last-ditch efforts to tide over the differences within, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is learnt to have offered to step down as Aam Aadmi Party national convenor ahead of the party’s national executive meeting on Wednesday.
Owing to ill health, the Mr. Kejriwal will be leaving for Bengaluru in the evening for 10 days’ naturopathy treatment, and may not attending the national executive meeting, during which the fate of two senior party leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav would be decided. Both the senior leaders are expected to attend the meeting.
While Mr. Yadav has sought to bury the differences, Mr. Kejriwal had on Tuesday said that he was hurt and pained by the ugly battle in the party.Ahead of the meeting, AAP leader Ashish Khetan tweeted regretting having commented about Mr. Bhushan in public. “I should not have commented about Bhushans in public. We’ve fought for many public causes together and will hopefully continue to work as a team. Have deleted my tweets. I am accountable to every last volunteer & will forever work to strengthen the party,” he tweeted.
