New Delhi – After promising good governance in Shahdara in East Delhi, Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed his second rally in Delhi in Sultanpur Majra by lauding BJP chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan’s efforts to eradicate polio in Delhi. Modi said, “The way he saved people of Delhi from polio, Harsh Vardhan will save the Delhi government from polio.”

Talking about the issue of water woes in Delhi, Modi pointed out that Delhi, Haryana and the Centre have Congress governments but still Haryana is not giving water to Delhi. Sharpening his criticism against the Congress party, Modi said corruption has become a habit for the Congress and the party cannot live without it.

Further attacking the Congress, Modi said, “People kept you in power for so many years but what did you do for Delhi. Congress feels the poor cannot do anything.” Adding that, “They should give the poor an opportunity. They are our strength.”

Coming to his pet issue of development, Modi said Congress is not ready to discuss issues of development, adding that the Congress lacks vision to think of how to get the nation ahead. “People of Delhi don’t have clean water to drink, air to breathe because Congress’ intentions are not clear, Modi said.

Also while not naming Aam Aadmi Party or the party convener Arvind Kejriwal, Modi said some people have derailed Anna Hazare’s pious fight against corruption due to their own political gains.

With the Campaign trail for the Delhi Assembly polls heating up both the Congress and the BJP have been exchanging blows at each other. Meanwhile, the Congress on Saturday cancelled Manmohan Singh’s rally in Delhi, to which the BJP said that the decision shows that the ruling party is on the backfoot as Modi’s rallies are witnessing huge turnouts.

A rapid round of three rallies by Narendra Modi is BJP’s last big push towards electoral victory in the crucial Delhi Assembly election.
