New Delhi: With the Parliament resuming its normal business, the ruling BJP is set to corner the Samajwadi Party led By Mulayam Singh Yadav over rising incidents of crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh.

BJP leader and Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti on Thursday said, “The insensitive language of the Samajwadi Party leaders is encouraging rapes in Uttar Pradesh. There is complete breakdown of law and order situation in UP. The leaders of the ruling party in UP shield rapists and make insensitive comments on such a serious matter. We will raise this issue in Parliament.”The remarks from the BJP leader came shortly after a minister in the UP govt Mohsin Khan said that incidents of rapes are natural in big states like UP.

The Akhilesh Yadav government in UP is facing extreme criticism for failing to control the rising cases of crimes against women in the state.

Recently, two teenaged sisters were gang-raped and murder in the Badaun district of the state and their bodies were found hanging the next day. This horrific incident followed a gang-rape of a woman judge in Aligarh, who was forcibly fed pesticides by the culprits.

Ironically, UP CM, his father and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and other senior leaders of his party have made insensitive comments when quizzed about the rising number of crimes against woman and blamed media for projecting the state in a negative light.

The growing number of rapes in UP also draw sharp criticism from the United Nations and the United States, which were appalled to see the plight of women in the SP-ruled sate and demanded urgent action against those involved.
