Union Minister Gopinath Munde dies in road accident

Union Minister Gopinath Munde died on Tuesday due to injuries sustained in a car accident at Moti Bagh around 6.30 a.m in Delhi. He was admitted in AIIMS Trauma Center with severe head injuries and passed away around 8 a.m after suffering a cardiac arrest, doctors said.

Though the Mr. Gopinath Munde did not suffer any injuries, he apparently suffered a shock in the impact of accident.

Mr. Gopinath Munde’s funeral will take place at his village in Latur on Wednesday, said Road Transport and Highways Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari. His body will be kept at the BJP headquarters at 12.30pm.

Mr. Munde asked for water from his security guard Nair who was sitting in front of the car and told him to take him to the hospital. Mr. Gopinath Munde, who was inducted into the Modi Cabinet as Rural Development Minister, also incharge of Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation, was a diabetic, and was sitting in the rear seat when the accident took place.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed shocked over the accident. ” I am extremely saddened and shocked by demise of my friend Gopinath Munde”, Mr. Modi tweeted.
