Pravin Dixit appointed Maharashtra DGP
Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau chief Pravin Dixit will take charge as the Maharashtra Director General Of Police after present incumbent Sanjeev Dayal retires on Wednesday.
Dixit will be taking charge at 1p.m. after a ceremonial welcome.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis approved the appointment of Dixit late last night.
Fadnavis also approved the appointment of Vijay Kamble as Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau (in place of Shri Pravin Dixit) and Satish Mathur as DG & MD of Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (MSPHWC). DG Housing Arup Patnaik is also retiring on Wednesday.
Additional Dirextor General Meeran Borwankar has been promoted as DG, Legal and Technical to replace Mr Mathur who was in charge of the Kalinan Forensic Laboratory.
Former Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria, who was transferred on promotion as Director General, Homeguards, had sought Dixit’s posting as Chief of Anti Corruption Bureau, but Mr Kamble’s appointment is seen as a snub in police circles.
