Nitish Kumar’s decision to resign as Bihar CM is final, Sharad Yadav says
PATNA: Nitish Kumar on Monday firmly said he would not reconsider his decision to withdraw his resignation as chief minister of Bihar and the party is expected to elect a new leader this evening.
JD(U) president Sharad Yadav told the media on Monday that Nitish Kumar’s decision to quit was ‘final’ and that he took the right decision in the light of the political situation of the country.
“The decision (Nitish Kumar’s resignation) is in favour of the nation, the party and Nitishji. It was a difficult decision but is final and right,” he said.
The JD(U) legislature party is meeting on Monday afternoon to elect a new leader who may belong to extemely backward class (EBC) or dalit community as per the desire of Nitish.
On Sunday, amid a high drama no decision could be taken at the two-hour JDLP meeting where MLAs in a chorus demanded that Nitish should stay. Nitish had promised to introspect and reconsider his decision.
Sharad Yadav also made it clear that his party will have no ties with Lalu Prasad’s RJD.
