New Delhi – Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely today described chief minister Arvind Kejriwal as the “biggest liar in the country,” and warned that his party would be forced to revise its strategy of propping up the Aam Aadmi Party government if it continued to “shirk its responsibility” by sitting on a dharna.

“Mr Kejriwal is the biggest liar in the country. We’ll not allow him to run away from responsibility, but if he carries on like this, we may be forced to rethink our support,” the DPCC chief

The Congress, which has eight MLAs in the Delhi assembly, extends outside support to the AAP government. But as Mr Kejriwal ratchets up his confrontation with the Centre over the control of Delhi Police, there has been a churning in the Congress over the sagacity of its decision to persist with its support to the AAP government. The chief minister and his ministerial colleagues have been sitting on dharna outside the Rail Bhawan since yesterday to press for the acceptance of their demands, bringing life in the city to a halt.

Mr Lovely accused the Delhi Chief Minister of continuously shifting his goal-post. “He has been telling one lie after another. He doesn’t stop at anything. If he sat on a dharna to protest the Danish woman’s rape, we would have sat with him. But his demands keep changing. First he wants suspension of cops, now he says at least transfer them, or grant full statehood to Delhi,” the Delhi Congress president argued.

The Delhi Congress chief called on the Centre to treat Mr Kejriwal as an aam aadmi or common man. “Nobody is above law. Not even the Chief Minister or the Prime Minister. The Centre should follow the law strictly and deal with him in accordance with the law,” he added.
