Cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj arrested after parking issue brawl
Indian cricket all-rounder Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj was detained by police on Sunday after he reportedly got into a scuffle over a car parking issue in Panchkula, Haryana.
The cricketer-turned-actor had been arrested from Panchkula today along with another person after a case under various sections of the IPC was registered against him, Panchkula’s Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Sharma said.. Four people were injured in the incident, all of whom have been admitted to the nearby sector 6 government hospital.
Yograj’s sister and her family had a scuffle with their neighbour over parking last night, following which Singh was booked on various charges including trespassing and criminal intimidation in connection with the incident, he said.
Yograj was detained under Indian Penal Code Section 323, which applies to instances of voluntarily causing hurt. The charges pressed against Yograj, who is a former international cricketer and actor, include trespassing and criminal intimidation. Yograj had gone for compromise but has been detained.
This is not Yograj’s first brush with the law. He was earlier arrested in 2000 in connection with a car accident in Chandigarh and was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.
The 56-year-old had recently undergone a surgery to remove a throat tumour in the United States.
