Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesman Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday said that the Congress Party has made a mockery of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, and in all probability, would blame him for the UPA’s loss in the 2014 general elections.

Addressing a press conference here, Javadekar said when the Congress Party is facing defeat or is defeated, the blame is never laid at the doorstep of Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi, but rather is projected as collective responsibility for the loss. In the event of success, however, credit goes to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, he added.

“It is the habit of the Congress Party to blame others and accept collective responsibilty when the results are not in their favour, while behave completely in the reverse, when the results are in their favour, giving credit to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi,” Javadekar told media here.
“We have nothing personal against Manmohan Singh. It is the Congress, which has made a mockery out of him and did not allow him to function properly. Manmohan Singh as Finance Minister under Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao was more effective than as Prime Minister under Sonia Gandhi,” he said.

Javadekar also added that a Planning Commission member has corroborated as to how Manmohan Singh was not given the real power to discharge his duties as prime minister.

“The outgoing PM will be cursed more, and even today, the planning commission member (Arun Maira) has confirmed the worse arrangement of political power distribution in the Congress. This vindicates the BJP’s position that the prime minister is in office and not in power, which has come out again and again,” Javadekar remarked.
