Allahabad HC reserves order on Talwars’ bail plea
The order was passed by a division bench comprising Justice Rakesh Tiwari and Justice Anil Kumar Agarwal after hearing counsel for the appellant and CBI counsel.
In their appeals, Dr Rajesh Talwar and Dr Nupur Talwar have challenged the judgment of CBI court in Ghaziabad by which they were awarded life imprisonment for killing their teenaged daughter and domestic help Hemraj.
They were awarded life imprisonment on November 26, 2013. The two have pleaded that there was no direct evidence against them. The CBI court had convicted them and awarded life imprisonment without considering the circumstantial evidence available on record. In addition to it, they also took the plea that the CBI had earlier filed a closure report in the case.
However, the investigation was resumed by CBI when its closure report was rejected by the CBI court in Ghaziabad. Teenager Aarushi was found murdered in her Ghaziabad house at night on May 15, 2008. Her mother Nupur Talwar had lodged an FIR in this connection.
