AAP govt. of Delhi to give Rs.1 crore to killed constable’s family
New Delhi – The Delhi government Monday announced Rs. 1 crore compensation to the family of the 48-year-old excise department constable, who died after being attacked by bootleggers two days ago.
The decision was taken at a meeting between Excise Commissioner A.K. Singh and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Constable Vinod Kumar succumbed to his injuries in a hospital after being beaten by a group of bootleggers Dec 27 night in a jungle in Ghitorni village near Vasant Kunj area of south Delhi.
According to police, the incident took place around 1.45 am when Kumar, along with constable Sokhinder and two civilians, Pawan and Mukesh, reached the area while chasing two bootleggers carrying liquor in their car.
A group of 10-12 men surrounded Kumar and his colleagues and started hurling stones at them. Kumar’s colleagues managed to flee but he was caught and beaten to death.
