Melbourne – Two-thirds of Aussie holiday-makers have admitted to nicking items from hotel rooms, a new poll has revealed.

TripAdvisor surveyed more than 19,000 guests and 10,000 hoteliers and found toiletries were by far the most popular “souvenirs” taken from hotel rooms, News.com.au reported.

In the poll, 45 percent of guests admitted to taking toiletries, while 32 percent of hotels reported losing them.

It was found that tea and coffee were taken by 22 percent of respondents, while 22 percent took stationery supplies.

Around 25 percent of hotels reported losing more expensive items like towels, far more often than people confessed-up to stealing them.

The survey found that 7 percent of guests surveyed admitting to nicking even the batteries from the remote control, ashtrays and light bulbs.
