New York has its first matrimonial pet-custody case
New York – A divorce case has turned into New York’s first matrimonial pet-custody case as well.
A Manhattan Justice has granting the Washington Heights residents Shannon Louise Travis and Trisha Bridget Murray an oral argument over the custody of their miniature dachshund named Joey, the New York Post reported.
The judge said that people who love their dogs almost always love them forever but with divorce rates at record high, the same cannot always be said for those who marry.
The pair of divorcing women is fighting over who gets sole custody of their 2-year-old pet.
