Nawaz Sharif claims will go `extra mile` for peace with India

Islamabad – Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said he would go the “extra mile” to make peace with its eastern neighbour India.

At the same time, Sharif also criticised the CIA’s drone campaign in the tribal regions of Pakistan, saying that the air attacks were detrimental to Islamabad’s efforts at eliminating terrorism and a ‘major irritant’ in their bilateral ties, the Express Tribune reports.

The statement on Pakistan’s soft foreign policy towards India came a day before the much awaited meeting of Sharif with President Barack Obama.

Nawaz said Kashmir is a difficult issue, but it can be resolved by talking.

Clashes between Pakistan and India have increased since the August 5 incident, which killed five Indian soldiers in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident has triggered endless ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC).
