Mumbai – Sonakshi Sinha, who has made a mark for herself in Bollywood with the “Dabangg” series, says she will wear the greasepaint so long as she enjoys her craft. Otherwise she will bid adieu to acting as stardom does not enamour her.
Daughter of actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, the 26-year-old has done more than half a dozen films since her 2010 debut.
“I am very clear about why I am here. It’s because of the love for what I do. The day I will stop enjoying, I will leave it because there is no attachment to stardom or perks that come along and not to fame,” Sonakshi told IANS.
“There is no fear. I have had my share of films that have done well ; ‘Joker’, ‘Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobaara’ didn’t work, so it’s okay. You move on,” added the actress who takes success and failure in her stride.
“For me I don’t have time to sit and cry over it (flops). Even if my film does well, you will not see me! blowing my own trumpet. There is no time to sit and dwell on ! whether it’s done well or not done well,” she said.
In fact, she has learned from her father not to feel bad about flops.
“I have never seen my dad getting upset over bad films. So, may be, it comes from there and may be the kind of person I am because I was bought up in a way where you treat success and failure in the same way,” Sonakshi said.
Some of Sonakshi’s big hits are the “Dabangg” series and “Rowdy Rathore”. Her next release is Prabhudheva’s “R…Rajkumar” and Tigmanshu Dhulia-directed crime thriller “Bullet Raja”.
She admits that “Bullet Raja” differs from her previous works.
“Yes, it’s different, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like the kind of films he (Dhulia) makes. I really respect him as a filmmaker. I have liked all his films, be it ‘Paan Singh…’ or ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster’. In fact, while we were shooting for ‘Bullet Raja’, he got a call that he had won the National Award. It was a great moment,” she said.
“In fac! t, he came to me for a film before ‘Bullet Raja’, which I could not do as I was busy with other films. It just didn’t work out. I felt so bad that this opportunity slipped out of my hand and three months later he came to my house with ‘Bullet Raja’.”
After working with the likes of Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi has teamed up with Saif Ali Khan in “Bullett Raja”, which is slated for a Nov 29 release.
