Will Amitabh Bachchan-Amar Singh hug mend broken relationships?
Will the exchange of hugs between AB Sr and Amar Singh end the three-year-old bitterness?
This seems to be a season of renewing friendships. After the much talked about hug(s) between Shah Rukh and Salman Khan, friends-turned-foes Amitabh Bachchan and Amar Singh embraced each other on Tuesday night, raising speculations of the two resuming their friendship.
The incident took place when both Singh and Bachchan went to attend producer Kumar Mangat’s daughter Amita’s wedding to Raghav Sachar at a hotel in Juhu. According to a source present at the venue, “Singh had just stepped outside when Bachchan (who was chatting with Ajay Devgn) asked for his whereabouts. When he was told that he was outside, AB walked to him and greeted him warmly. Both hugged each other with affection and Abhishek, who was with his father, even touched Singh’s feet as a mark of respect. After that, the three chatted for about 15 minutes.”
The strained ties
In 2011, Singh accused Jaya (whom he taught the ‘rules of politics’) and Bachchan parivar of betraying him in the time of need. The friendship came to an end when Singh was thrown out of the Samajwadi Party over cash-for-votes scam and he openly challenging them to win an election on their own.
