Indian actress Alia Bhatt: The Female Emraan Hashmi
Three-film-old Alia Bhatt has consistently locked lips with all her leading men on the silver screen. Alia even said in an interview, “People have now started considering me as the female Emraan Hashmi of the industry.”
Emraan Hashmi is in danger of losing his tag of a hot-shot serial kisser. The actor, who has smooched his way from Murder to Jannat will have to let go of his mantle, and not just because he has stopped kissing on screen but somebody else is fast catching onto it. No, we are not talking about Arjun Kapoor or Siddharth Malhotra (they have smooched the heroine of all their films) giving him a chase for his title, but the young and cute heroine Alia Bhatt, who’s just had three releases so far. At least, Emraan can take heart from the fact the title is being usurped by his cousin so, it stays in the family!
Alia, who made her debut in Student Of The Year, not only made a appearance in a bikini, she also planted a sweet kiss on Siddharth Malhotra’s lips. A young film about college goers, it was not really unusual for the actors to seal their love with a kiss!
Alia’s next release Highway saw her being paired with the rugged Randeep Hooda, who is much older to her. However, that didn’t stop her from setting the screen afire with some steamy scenes and a liplock with Randeep.
But it’s with her 2 States co-star Arjun Kapoor that the chirpy heroine dethrones Emraan in the kissing department. The macho Arjun and the nubile Alia scorched the screen with their intimate lovemaking scenes and multiple lip locks. So much so that during the film promotions too, Alia all but landed a smooch from Arjun, keeping the rumour mills gristing about their off-screen relationship!
The latest news is that Alia’s upcoming film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya has run into Censor trouble over the hot kiss between her and Varun Dhawan. Reports say that the Censor Board has asked the makers to cut out the close-up of the smooch in the promos. They are okay with the long shot, though!
When told about the new label earned by his daughter, Mahesh Bhatt was irked. “I think the media is obsessed with a kiss. It’s silly to make such a big fuss about a 21-year-old girl in the 21st century, if she kisses on screen. In Hollywood they don’t make such an issue about it. It’s understandable that it’s an image that sells.”
Doesn’t it bother him that a girl is being tagged with the title? “Why should only a male have the privilege of being called a serial kisser? Why not a female? What’s wrong with that? Alia is an actor and if she chooses that path consciously, I respect her opinion and drive. She is in the driving seat of her own life.”
