Colors announces new season of popular reality show, ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’
Colors has announced the latest season of their popular reality show, ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’. The show, just like its international version – Fear Factor – is a platform where celebrity contestants will not only have to face their primal fears but also conquer them.
This season’s Khatron Ke Khildai will be called ‘Darr ka blockbuster’ where the contestants will bust their phobias and conquer their fears. Bollywood’s ace action entertainer, Rohit Shetty, will be guiding them as well as host the show. It will go on for 20 episodes to select one winner.
Elaborating on the format change this season, Deepak Dhar, Managing Director, Endemol India, said, “Khatron Ke Khiladi is Endemol’s most adrenalin-charged format. The show’s strong production values and thrilling entertainment have enthralled audiences across the world over multiple seasons. While previous seasons have showcased hosts with their ‘haseenas’ and handsome hunks, this season will see a brand new format where the male and female contestants will compete with each other on an equal footing to face their fears head on to see who will emerge as winner.”
The show, produced by Endemol India, will be shot in picturesque locales in South Africa and will soon premiere on Colors in the summer of 2014. Some of the contestants who will be seen trying to conquer their phobias include actor Ranvir Shorey who is known for his versatility; reckoned anti-hero Nikitin Dheer, stunning diva Mugdha Godse; door-crashing expert Dayanand Shetty; ladies’ man Rajniesh Duggall; gorgeous cricket commentator Rochelle Maria Rao; Bigg Boss Season 7 winner Gauahar Khan; television’s angry young heartthrob Kushal Tandon; popular television crusader Pooja Gor; television’s diva Mahhi Vij; ace dancer turned actor Salman Khan; and Bollywood’s real action heroine Geeta Tandon.
Manisha Sharma, Weekend Programming Head, Colors, said, “Much like Khatron Ke Khiladi, Rohit Shetty and his cinematic-style can be defined as the perfect amalgamation of action and entertainment. His superlative approach to all things action has made him the undisputable maestro in the world of action entertainment – on the big screen and now on television. With each stunt that will be exclusively curated by him, Shetty will encourage contestants to surpass expectations beyond boundaries and raise the bar of action. He will guide and lead the contestants as the formidable Guru of Action by creating a path with specially designed stunts that will keep the audiences glued to their television screens week after week.”
“Khatron Ke Khiladi brings alive the two core strengths ingrained in my DNA: action and entertainment. My key focus through the show is about being a stunt architect, making contestants push their boundaries and overcome their fears on the challenges put forth by me. Also, while I have always directed action, this show gives me an opportunity to take on some interesting stunts head on, inspire the contestants to perform better and experience the thrill associated with it. I am excited to be a part of this show and look forward to enjoying this new experience,” commented Rohit Shetty.
Though the date for the launch of the show has not been announced yet, it is likely to be around the IPL season. The show, being one of the most popular reality shows, will be kept in the weekend primetime slot. Though right now no sponsors are on board, the Colors team is in talks with some companies.
“The cost of making each show is different, and the sponsorship cost is based on that. Fear Factor sponsorship value would be less than ‘Big Boss’, but it would be in comparison with a ’24′ or a ‘India’s Got Talent’ or ‘Jhalak Dikhlaja’,” explained Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors.
