Gujarat University MCA and MBA seats vacant
The Gujarat University has said that 72 per cent of the seats in the Master of Computer Application (MCA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) will stay vacant this year because the online admission process ended on Wednesday — only 7,000 students had registered against the availability of 25,004 seats.
According to the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) there are 87 MCA colleges with 6580 seats and 108 MBA colleges with 10420 seats, adding that there are 78 colleges with 8004 seats vacant in the third semester.
The last day for verifying documents at the ACPC or help centers is Thursday. “Students who fail to get documents verified will not be eligible for admission,” an officer adds.
Officials further said that about 30 per cent of students do not accept admissions if they don’t get a college of their choice and hence the number of vacancies this year may be close to 18,000 seats.
The number of vacant seats last year was 15,000, say ACPC officers adding that 29 MBA colleges and 13 MCA colleges have already shut shop in the past three years.
