Yahoo appoints Katie Couric as `face of News`
London – Katie Couric has been reportedly announced as the official ‘face of Yahoo News’, the Internet giant’s CEO Marissa Mayer has said.
Veteran television correspondent Couric, had quit her position at ABC News earlier than scheduled, to join Yahoo.
According to the BBC, Couric formerly hosted the CBS Evening News and co-hosted NBC’s Today show and will be a ‘global anchor’, beginning next year.
Mayer said that she was incredibly excited to welcome Couric to Yahoo adding that she has always respected the former host for thoughtful, charismatic approach to journalism.
The CEO further announced that Couric will lead a growing team of correspondents at Yahoo News who will cover the world’s most interesting stories and newsmakers.
Yahoo’s high-profile list of hires for its growing news wing includes chief political correspondent, Matt Bai, technology correspondent, David Pogue and deputy news editor Megan Liberman of the New York Times, the report added.
