They give you superior mileage and add less pollution to the atmosphere.

Toyota Prius

This may look as exquisite as the previous one, and the tech doesn’t fall short of astonishing. This could very well be a car that came from the future. Mahindra e2o Plus

Well, the initiative to bring hybrid cars to India is good, but the price at which they are retailed is exorbitant. Mahindra though, has offered an affordable hybrid car for the Indian customer, which comes at a phenomenal price of just Rs.5.46 lakhs, going up to just Rs.8.46 lakhs. Keep in mind that this one is not a powerful car, although it gives you an affordable hybrid option to save the environment. The car has a fuel efficiency of 112 kmpl, which is a cherry on top of the eco-friendly cake.

BMW i8

Can you imagine a BMW car that gives a mileage of 47 km per litre? Well, it really does! This hybrid BMW looks like it came from the movie ‘Tron’. Your jaws will drop at the first sighting of this beast, yes, it’s THAT good looking. If we didn’t know any better, we’d even declared it to be a car from the future! The interiors of the car equally good with well cushioned seats inside. The car is powered by a 1.5-liter engine, which generates a power of 231 PS, and goes from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.6 seconds. Also, the car can be operated in only electric mode up to a speed of 120 kmph. The car is priced at around 3 crores though, at which price it is too expensive to be mainstream.

Honda Accord Hybrid

Honda Accord is a now only available in India as a hybrid sedan, and that too ata price of a staggering Rs.44 lakhs. Although this sedan can give you a mileage of 23 Km per liter, the price is a bit too much for a Honda car. Thankfully, with the Toyota now giving a competition to the Accord, the future models might have more competitive pricing. It comes with an Atkinson cycle powered engine, a 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder mill that churns out a power of 212 bhp. The torque generated by the car is around 315 NM. Overall, it is a great car and a decent looker on the roads.

Toyota Camry Hybrid

The closest competitor to the Honda Accord Hybrid, the Camry is a car of substance. The car does look a bit too over styled, although mainstream audiences might find that attractive, as it is extremely eye-catching. The front looks really aggressive and it truly has got an identity of its own. The car is being manufactured in India and is being offered at a price of Rs.37 lakhs, which is good value for the kind of equipment on offer. The car has a 2.5-liter hybrid engine which delivers you a power of 215 HP and a mileage of 19.6 km per liter.

Although the car was only recently launched in India, and has garnered a lot of attention in the market. India gets the same car as the US spec model of the Camry hybrid, which is good news for Toyota buyers in India as it gets all the equipment without any major cost-cutting.
