Honda launches MPV Mobilio at Rs 6.49 lakh onwards
Japanese car maker Honda Motors today launched its much-awaited multi-utility passenger vehicle (MPV) Mobilio in India.
It will come in both diesel as well as petrol variant. Petrol versions are priced between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 8.76 lakh, while diesel versions will be priced between Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 10.86 lakh. (All prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
Based on the successful Brio platform, this 7-seater vehicle marks the foray of Honda in the MPV segment in India.
“Honda has vast experience in offering a variety of premium MPVs to customers globally. Drawing from this experience, our engineers have used the same technological know-how and design philosophy to develop Mobilio,” Honda Motor Company Managing Officer Yoshiyuki Matsumoto told reporters here.
Mobilio has been developed at Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co., located in Bangkok, Thailand, specially for the Asian markets.
Amid the sluggish automobile market in the country, the MPV segment too declined 15 per cent in the past financial year.
The company, which sells products such as Odyssey and Freed under this category globally, is looking at positioning the car as a personal vehicle for large Indian families rather than a commercial vehicle.
