Gautam Adani breaks into the list of 10 richest Indians after a sharp 152 per cent jump in his wealth.

Hurun Report, published by a China-based luxury said Adani zoomed into the top league riding on the runaway share prices of his companies in recent past and thus pegging his wealth at Rs.44,000 crore. The Adani Group chairman came tenth edging out Anil Ambani of the Reliance Group, whose wealth dropped 5 per cent to Rs.43,000 crore.

According to a report Mukesh Ambani retained the his position.

The report which tracks the uber rich quoted that Ambani’s wealth swelled 37 per cent to 1.65 lakh crore, while Sun Pharma chief Dilip Shanghvi toppled LN Mittal of ArcelorMittal for the second position. Sanghvi’s recent blockbuster acquisitions reaped a 43 per cent rally in his wealth, which stood at 1.29 lakh crore. Mittal declined 4 per cent to Rs.97,000 crore.

Mumbai has 70 billionaires followed by Delhi with 37 and Bangalore 23. L N Mittal, S P Hinduja, Anil Agarwal and Prakash Lohia are from the UK while Micky Jagtiani of Landmark Group, Feroz Allana of IFFCO and MA Yousufali of Emke Group are from the UAE.

Azim Premji of Wipro at Rs.86,000 crore came fourth in the richest list followed by tech peer Shiv Nadar of HCL, who saw his wealth rise 41 per cent to Rs.78,000 crore. SP Hinduja and family of the Hinduja Group and Pallonji Mistry of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, who is also the largest individual shareholder in Tata Sons, were next.

Kumar Mangalam Birla of the Aditya Birla Group slipped to number eight from six a year ago even as his wealth grew at 16 per cent to Rs.62,000 crore. Telecom mogul Sunil Bharti Mittal is ninth richest Indian with a wealth of Rs.52,000 crore. Hyderabad-based by P V Ramprasad Reddy , founder of Aurobindo Pharma, whose share price soared 428 per cent from last year, is the biggest gainer in the list with wealth of Rs.13,500 crore. Sachin and Binny Bansal, the unrelated founders of India’s online retailer Flipkart, share a combined net worth of Rs.7,800 crore.
