he deal took place in 2007 and it was done allegedly with an aim to fund the telecom project of Unitech.

Sources said that the CBI has informed the Supreme Court about the probe. The CBI will also investigate the allocation of dual technology spectrum to Tata Teleservices in February 2008.

It is learned that the CBI did not probe these aspects during the earlier investigation into the 2G scam. But the country’s premier investigating agency has now decided to thoroughly probe all aspects of this case and then submit a report to the top court.

Tata Realty spokesperson said the company was “not aware of any preliminary inquiry. We have explained our position on this issue in the past. We reiterate that we have comprehensively addressed questions from all government agencies and fully cooperated with all authorities in their investigations. We stress that we are committed to the highest standards of ethics and business conduct.”

The CBI will try to find out whether the advance was given by Tata Realty to Unitech for real estate projects or for a telecom licence pertaining to the 2G telecom spectrum allocation scam.
