Ponda
Located about 17 kms north east of Margao and about 28 kms south east of Panaji on the National Highway number
4, Ponda is the Hindu heart of Goa. It has a number of temples; the noted ones are dedicated to Lord Mangesh
(Shiva) Temple, Lord Nagesh, Lord Ganapati, Lord Ramnath and the Goddesses Mahalasa and Shantdurga. Ponda is also known for the Safa Masjid, built in 1560 AD by the King of Bijapur Ibrahim Adil Shah, the mosque is one of the only two Islamic shrines to survive the Portuguese domination.
Kesarval Springs
Located at a distance of 22 kms from the state capital Panaji on the Panaji-Margao highway. This natural water
spring emerges from rocks and is believed to have medicinal properties.
Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary
These forests now a protected sanctuary is a good place to spot a Sambar, Wild Boar. Located at a distance of
55 kms from Panaji and 38 kms from Margao, the sanctuary includes a botanical garden, a deer park and a zoo.
