A triple screen is a type of blood test which measures three things. They are the human chorionic gonadotropin, alpha-fetoprotein and the unconjugated estriol. During a triple test in pregnancy, the results derived can help the doctor to check whether your baby is at risk for specific birth related illnesses.
When should the test be carried out?
A triple test in pregnancy is most accurate if it is done between the 16th and the 18th weeks of your pregnancy. However, most doctors also opt for conducting this test between the 15th and 22nd weeks of your pregnancy.
