Kabir Singh box office collection Day 14: Shahid Kapoor-Kiara Advani film continues to dominate
In Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor plays the role of a doctor who becomes self-destructive when his girlfriend is married to another man.
After hitting the double century at the box office, Kabir Singh is still going strong. The film, which bagged Rs 134.42 crore in the first week of its release, hit the Rs 200 crore mark on Wednesday.
The Shahid Kapoor-starrer became the fastest Bollywood film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark in 2019. It achieved the feat in just 13 days of its release, while its contemporaries Bharat and URI: The Surgical Strike crossed the mark in 14 days and 28 days respectively.
After setting the box office on fire in its opening weekend, it collected Rs 20.21 crore on Day 1, Rs 22.71 crore on Saturday and Rs 27.91 crore on Sunday, the film is still going strong. Though the box office collection of the film dropped on Monday, courtesy weekday, Kabir Singh managed to cross Rs 200 crore in just 13 days. The film earned Rs 6.72 crore on Thursday.
Shahid Kapoor stepped into the shoes of Vijay Deverakonda, who played the lead role in the Telugu film Arjun Reddy, for the Hindi remake. He called Kabir Singh his most-loved character.
“The most flawed character I have ever played. Has become my most loved. Indeed, Indian cinema and the audience has come a long way. More power to brave choices. More power to you all for your maturity and humanness. You have given me wings to fly. To not only be burdened by the need to be loved to be a star but to have the courage to be hated in equal measure to be an actor. Here’s to cinema mirroring life. To protagonists who don’t have to be restricted by their goodness and can be human and imperfect. There is perfection in imperfection and that is the beauty and the challenge of this human life. Thank you. Again and again. You all are the heroes of this story,” added Shahid Kapoor.
Kabir Singh, also starring Kiara Advani, hit the screens on June 21.
