Detaining Yogendra Yadav has shown brutal, dishonest face of Delhi Police: AAP
Condemning the crackdown on Yogendra Yadav by Delhi Police, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC) vice-chairman Ashish Khetan on Tuesday said the act has shown the brutal and dishonest face of the police.
It is deeply unfortunate and condemnable that the Modi Government and the police, which works directly under the Modi Government, is curbing civil liberties and the fundamental rights of peaceful agitators,? Khetan told ANI.
He said that Yogendra Yadav and his colleagues have all the right to sit on a peaceful protest against the policies of the government which they consider anti-farmer and unjust.
By cracking down on peaceful agitators, by dragging them to the police station, by manhandling them, and now, by arresting them, I think the police has once again shown its brutal and dishonest face. What is the police in Delhi doing he added.
The ex-AAP leader was detained by the Delhi Police during a farmers’ protest at Jantar Mantar last night.
Yadav was trying to march towards the Prime Minister’s official 7 Race Course Road residence, and has alleged that he was brutally assaulted.
