UP Police to deal with dissent, claims BJP
The Bharatiya Janata Party, referring to the Barabanki incident, where a woman was allegedly set ablaze by two policemen, claimed that the Uttar Pradesh police have found a new way to deal with dissent.
“The Akhilesh Yadav-led government’s police have found a new way to deal with dissent. A similar incident happened in Shahjahanpur. The police, who are supposed to be the protector of society, are themselves the reason for fear,” BJP leader Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.
Last night, a woman anganwadi worker succumbed to her injuries after she was allegedly set ablaze by two policemen inside a police station in the Barabanki district of UP.
According to reports, the woman had gone to the police station to free her husband, who had been picked up for questioning. When she refused to bribe the policemen in order to release her husband, she was set ablaze.
