Pakistan an irreplaceable, all-weather friend: China
BEIJING: China said on Monday that Pakistan was its irreplaceable and all-weather friend and both the countries were part of the community of shared destiny.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif, who is on an official visit to China, on Monday appreciated Beijing’s support and said greater international focus and coordination needed to logically conclude fight against terrorism. The world must understand evolving environment, he said during important meetings with senior Chinese leaders, including State Leader Chairman Peoples Conference, Yu Zhengsheng in Beijing. Yu Zhengsheng in his meeting with the COAS, who is on official visit to China, said Pakistan had always stood by China and was its most reliable friend.
“The Chinese government and people stand by Pakistan and will help Pakistan in all respects,” Yu said quoted by Director General ISPR Maj. Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa in his tweets on social media. The Chinese Foreign Minister, in his meeting with Gen Raheel, said Pakistan was China’s irreplaceable all weather friend and both the countries were part of community of shared destiny. Meng, Member Chinese Political Bureau, who also met Gen Raheel, said Pakistan and China had consistent policy beyond individuals. Pakistan’s concern was China’s concern, Meng added.
China’s top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng met with Pakistani Army Chief General Raheel Sharif in Beijing on Monday, vowing to support Pakistan’s anti-terrorism efforts. China appreciates and supports Pakistan’s efforts in fighting against terrorism and hopes to better bilateral defense and security cooperation, said Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. China also hopes to beef up coordination with Pakistan in regional affairs in a bid to jointly safeguard regional peace, security and stability, Yu said.
Calling the two countries forever good friends, he said China always gives priority of its foreign policies to developing ties with Pakistan. “We are willing to work closely with Pakistan to upgrade our strategic coordination, deepen all-round cooperation, and step up the building of China-Pakistan economic corridor,” Yu said. Raheel Sharif, during his speech, said Pakistan considers relations with China as a cornerstone of its foreign policy. The Pakistani armed forces will continue to facilitate cooperation with China and firmly support China’s efforts to safeguard its core interests, he said.
General Raheel Sharif held important meetings with senior Chinese leadership in Beijing today and discussed matters of bilateral interest. State leader, Chairman Peoples Conference Yu Zhengsheng during his meeting with COAS said that Pakistan has always stood by China. He said Pakistan is our most reliable friend. He said the government and people of China help and stand by Pakistan it in all respects.
