The world is a strange place and if it involves the Delhi and District Cricket Association also known as DDCA, then it is stranger than fiction as anything and everything is possible in the association, most of which is not possible in the world we live in.
The association which is also battling corruption charges along with fraud in age-groups is left with no other choice but to accept their failure to run the administration as on Monday, one of its officials was accused of stealing peanuts from the Rajasthan team’s dressing room during the Ranji match between Delhi and Rajasthan, according to a report published in the Hindustan Times.
An incident which can put a kindergarten kid to shame, is not the only time when DDCA found themsleves at the receiving end. Vijendar Yadav, who is the manager of the visiting team lodged a written complaint to DDCA’s anti-corruption official, Manoj Choudhary.
“We had bought peanuts for our players during the match between Delhi and Rajasthan,” Yadav said in the complaint. “After eating some of them we kept the packet in our dressing room. Mr Maqsood Karim came to our dressing room without permission and took the packet of peanuts.
“We request you to please look into the matter as a lot of valuable items are kept in the dressing room. Please ensure that only authorised persons are allowed in the playing area.” as quoted by Hindustan Times.
This was not the end of the drama as later in the day Choudhary was seen to get into a scuffle with Karim, in the wake of the incident and the situation was brought under control after the intervention of the police at Kotla late in the evening on Tuesday.
Maqsood finally tendered an apology but all this after a complaint was already filed and DDCA need to pull up their socks and ensure that the least they can do in such a scenario is to restrict the access of the alleged person.
