New Delhi: Sheila Dikshit, who recently quit as the governor of Kerala, has questioned the Narendra Modi government’s move to target UPA-appointed governors.

Speaking to a leading English daily, Dikshit also asked why were the UPA-appointed governors shown the door selectively?

Why have the governors of Delhi and Madhya Pradesh been spared when others have been pressured into quitting, she asked, describing the approach as ‘selective humiliation’.

The former Delhi chief minister said she failed to understand the reason behind such discrimination.

Dikshit stepped down as Kerala governor last month, after being in office for less than six months.

In contrast, Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung was appointed to the post on July 9, 2013 while Ram Naresh Yadav took office as MP Governor on September 8, 2011.

Dikshit said people occupying constitutional posts have been humiliated, with some of them treated “very badly”.

Disclosing the circumstances around her resignation, Dikshit said she was asked by a bureaucrat to quit as Kerala governor.
