Arvind Kejriwal asks L-G to withdraw letter to President on Delhi government formation

New Delhi: Messing up the process of government formation in Delhi, a delegation of Aam Aadmi Party leaders on Wednesday met Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and urged him to “revise” his September 4 letter to President Pranab Mukherjee seeking permission to invite the Bharatiya Janata Party to form a “stable government”.

The delegation, consisting of Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Kumar Vishwas, also sought dissolution of the House.

Talking to reporters after the meet, Sisodia said that his party is hopeful that Jung will review its recommendation.

AAP leaders on Wednesday met Delhi L-G Najeeb Jung and asked him to withdraw the letter to the President seeking his permission to invite the BJP to form the government in Delhi.

“We have submitted the CD of our sting operation which shows BJP trying to buy our MLA for Rs 4 crore. We requested the L-G to watch the video. We also asked him to revise the September 4 letter he sent to President Pranab Mukherjee in which, in a way, he has sought permission to invite BJP for government formation,” said AAP leader Manish Sisodia who accompanied party chief Arvind Kejriwal during the meeting.

“Kejriwal has lost out after his drubbing in the last Lok Sabha polls and is now fighting for his survival,” he added.

BJP, for now, has maintained that it will make public its decision on whether to form the government only after Jung officially invites them to do so.

At a press conference in Ghaziabad, Kejriwal had claimed that the BJP was in touch with 15 AAP MLAs and he will come out with “more sting tapes if the need arises”.

Kejriwal had earlier this week released a video of a “sting operation” in which BJP’s Delhi unit vice president Sher Singh Dagar allegedly offered a bribe to AAP MLA from Sangam Vihar Dinesh Mohania to switch sides.

The party also suggested that it was in touch with the Congress in order to prevent the BJP from coming to power.

“I want to make it very clear that AAP is in touch with all the parties… with (independent MLA from Mundka) Rambeer Shokeen, (JDU MLA) Shoaib Iqbal, (expelled AAP MLA Vinod Kumar) Binny, the Congress and even some honest MLAs from the BJP.

“By saying this we make it clear that we are not aiming to form the government, but we want to stop the BJP from forming the government through dishonest means. We are in favour of elections,” Kejriwal said.
