Paswan: Govt to hike import duty on sugar to 40%, give interest-free loan to mills
NEW DELHI, JUNE 23:
The Government will hike the import duty on sugar to 40 per cent from the current 15 per cent, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, has said.
Besides, the Government will provide an additional interest-free loan of Rs. 4,400 crore to cash-starved sugar mills to make payments to cane farmers, Paswan said.
The Government will extend the sugar export subsidy of Rs. 3,300 per tonne till September this year, he added.
