BHUBANESWAR: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) will publish Plus II examination results on May 31, CHSE authorities said on Sunday.

The CHSE announcement comes as a huge relief to science students because 40% weightage is given to Plus II marks in JEE (Main) ranking.

There was apprehension that the results might get delayed because elections interrupted evaluation.

“The results of all four streams of science, commerce, arts and vocational courses will be published at 10 am on May 31,” CHSE chairman Basudeb Chhatoi told TOI. Last year, the result was published on May 29.

Chhatoi said the result booklets will be available at CHSE headquarters in Bhubaneswar and three zonal offices at Sambalpur, Berhampur and Baripada besides JKBK College in Cuttack.

Results will also be available through SMS by some private cellular operators and on CHSE website (as.ori.nic.in/chseorissa), he said.

Marksheets of students will be sent to the zonal offices the same day.

They will get the marksheets depending on how quickly their respective colleges take those from the zonal offices, he said.

The CHSE had to stop evaluation midway on April 6 after starting it on March 28 and resumed it again on April 21 after the election break.

“It was a challenge for us to publish the results as per schedule because evaluation was stopped by around two weeks due to Lok Sabha and assembly elections in April,” Chhatoi said.

The council was under pressure to publish results of science students at the earliest since their marks will be considered for publishing JEE (Main) ranks, which will be basis for admission in state engineering colleges and in central technical institutions such as NITs.

Secretary (technical education) Chandra Sekhar Kumar had written to the council earlier this month to publish the results quickly.

CHSE had engaged 12,530 teachers at 48 evaluation centres to complete checking.

Around 3.25 lakh students from arts, commerce, science and vocational streams had appeared in the examination at over 1,300 examination centres.

The theory examinations were held for around a month from March 3 while practicals got over in February.
