Two terrorists holed up in house near Srinagar, heavy firing on
Srinagar:Heavy firing is being exchanged between two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants and security forces in Ahmadnagar on the outskirts of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.
The two militants are holed up inside a house in the congested residential area.
The entire area has been cordoned off and heavy security is present.
“Exchange of firing between militants and security forces has started after the militants turned down the offer to surrender,” a senior police officer said.
Security forces had asked the militants, who took refuge in a residential house belonging to Abdul Majid Ranrez last evening, to surrender but they refused the offer, the officer said.
The police first evacuated the house owner and his wife who were trapped inside the house where the militants are holed up. The police say their first priority was to rescue all civilians before launching the final assault.
The police say they received a tip off about the two suspected militants last evening, who then entered the house.
