Two brothers were gunned down by a local criminal and his friends on Friday for allegedly ‘blocking’ their way while reversing a goods carrier in northwest Delhi’s Bawana.

This was the second incident of road rage in the Capital in 24 hours after a bike-rider was assaulted on Thursday evening in south Delhi’s Nizamuddin area for not letting a driver jump a traffic signal.
Kaptan and Sahib Singh were reversing their ‘Champion’ goods carrier out of a parking lot when they accidentally blocked the way of a speeding Skoda car driven by a local goon, identified as Rahul alias Kale. The incident occurred in Sultanpur Dabas village near Bawana on Friday morning, said the police.

A verbal showdown ensued, ending with Kale and two associates firing over a dozen bullets at the brothers, who were subsequently declared dead. “We have identified the main accused in the case and arrests will be made soon,” said a senior police officer.

Following their death, family members and residents of the area blocked traffic for several hours and even assaulted police personnel called in to manage the deteriorating law-and-order situation.

The incident followed a similar crime on Thursday evening when a 33-year-old bike-rider was beaten up by a car driver — in a hurry to drop his family at the railway station — for not letting him jump a traffic signal. The victim, Deepak Kumar, was discharged after receiving six stitches. The police said that the accused driver, Abhinav Singh, has been arrested.
