Patna –  Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has called his bitter rivals – Lalu Prasad of the Rashtriya Janata Dal and Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi – “darlings of media”. Kumar, who is facing a tough challenge from both the RJD and BJP, said that both parties had planned an election rally in the north Bihar town of Muzaffarpur on March 3 to ensure maximum coverage.

“Both of them are the darling of the media. They know how to create unnecessary controversy. To ensure that their rallies get maximum coverage, they are using the opportunity to stay in news,” Kumar said. Without taking their names, he said that both leaders were expert in using the media but the administration will entertain the party which applied first for permission.

The Bihar Chief Minister also targeted the media and blamed it for ignoring Janata Dal United rallies. “I represent the downtrodden, the marginalised and the poor. So there is no coverage of our rallies,” said Kumar. He pointed out that JDU had organised a “Sankalp Rally” in Muzaffarpur, but the media ignored it.

While BJP had announced that Modi will address a rally in Muzaffarpur on March 3, Lalu later jumped into the fray and declared his intention to addressing a gathering on the same date in the city to counter “communal forces”.
