Greater Noida – Homegrown auto major Tata Motors on Wednesday unveiled a concept compact sports utility vehicle Nexon along with another concept car ConnectNext, giving a glimpse of its future direction in terms of technologies, as it bids to make up lost ground in passenger vehicles market.

These two cars are among the company’s display of 18 vehicles across passenger and commercial segments, under its Horizonext programme.

The other highlights of the company’s display at the Auto Expo here are the new compact sedan Zest and hatchback Bolt, which it had unveiled on Monday.

The concept Nexon is a modern compact SUV, with fresh design and new generation human machine interface technology.

The ConnectNext concept car articulates the future of connectivity that connects professional and personal networks.

Tata Motors President Passenger Vehicles Ranjit Yadav said the aim for the company was to become the 4th in passenger vehicle market in India.

It has fallen behind rival Mahindra & Mahindra and Honda in the pecking order.

In the commercial vehicles segment, the firm unveiled a medium commercial vehicle Prima CX 1618T, trucks Ultra 614 and LPS 4923 LA.

Tata Motors Executive Director Commercial Vehicles Ravi Pisharody said the company’s new products “translate into a great business proposition, combining low-cost ownership with driver comfort, high performance…”

The firm is also showcasing electric mini commercial passenger vehicle Magic Iris fitted with a roof mounted solar panel for charging.

Moreover, it is also displaying Starbus Urban FE-Parallel hybrid bus with an air-cooled engine.
