You owe us a visit, says Manipal University to famous alum Satya Nadella Microsoft’s new CEO
Manipal – Manipal University wants Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s new CEO, back.
Mr Nadella studied at the Manipal Institute of Technology, which is located near Udupi in Karnataka, between the years 1984 and 1988. It now hopes to bring him back to the college as chief guest for their annual convocation this year.
“Satya, we wish you achieve greater success and continue the good work you are currently doing. We are really looking forward to having you over at Manipal. You should come back to our college as chief guest during our convocation,” says Dr Vinod Thomas, Director of Manipal Institute of Technology.
Dr Thomas recalls Satya as an alert and hardworking student. “He seemed very hungry for knowledge. I vaguely remember observing him in the lab a couple of times. I was a faculty then and Satya would always ask questions beyond the syllabus,” he says, adding, “He has inspired so many of our present generation students.”
Mr Nadella’s former project guide, Hebbar H, who is now the Director of School of Information Science, says, “As a student, Satya was not very easy to convince because he was always inquisitive and had a problem-solving nature.”
“We are very proud of him,” he adds.
The institute had earlier too invited Satya but received an e-mail from him saying he couldn’t make it. The management said efforts are being made again to call their famous student back.
